Hind Leg Paralysis (HLP)
aka hyperparathyroidism
aka hypocalciemia
aka metabolic bone disease
HLP is a nutritional disorder caused by a severe lack of calcium in the diet and in part is caused by the elevated level of the parathyroid hormone (PTH) It is due to poor nutrition and most sugar gliders die from the disease. In some instances, if caught early HLP can be reversed.
