I have 2 gliders who are about 2-3 years old, Gizmo and Gadget. I'v only had them since June, but I've done my research and know alot about them. They act and look as 2 normal gliders should... run on their wheel, eat and drink, and play like a glider should. They are happy, perky, and playful. But I noticed one of them is sneezing in the pouch. I know they make a sneezing sound when they clean themselves, but this isn't like that. Its almost like a wheezing, coughing, sneezing sound, and there is the occasional bark. Whoever it is only does it when they are in the pouch or occasionally when I take them out and they sleep in a little mesh shelf they like. They sleep next to each other Neither of their noses look runny or snotty, and they only make it when they are in the pouch or mesh shelf. When they are running around in the cage they don't make any sort of out of the ordinary noise. So am I over reacting? Or is something wrong with one of my little boys?

are they hissing to each other? if so its a sign of communication. some of mine even hiss for me when i enter their room. you know your glider much better than me so if it is more than already stated a vet visit may be in order so he/she can listen to their lungs and heart and get a fecal float and smear done while you are there!

They do hiss occasionally... The person I got them from never took them to the vet, so I really don't have one. Could I take them to any vet? I live in Minnesota, about an hour away from the Twin Cities, and I know they are illegal in St. Paul, so I'm not sure if they would have vets for them. So would my usual vet work?

That's Usha77, Cora...lol! ;)
There are a few vets in the Twin Cities that see gliders and are very good with them. My vet (who rocks!) is Dr. John Baillie at Cedar Pet Clinic in Lake Elmo. 651-770-3250. I'm going to PM you. |
