Hello,
I've had my two gliders, Neo and Sydney, for 3 months now. I initially had them on the Suncoast diet. I noticed what seemed to be the typical behavior of eating some, but not all, of their food each night.

After reading the forums of other web sites, on Diet and Nutrition, I decided to try the BML diet. They've been eating the BML mixed with frozen veggies and fresh fruit, along with Zoo Keepers secret for a few weeks now. They appear perfectly healthy and happy. They do seem to sleep a little later than they used to. They also seem to return to their pouch more often to nap. I keep trying to get them up so I can give them time to play out of their cage. Once they get going, they're hopping around as happy as can be.

This evening I read that BML is not only unhealthy, but could be toxic overtime. The information is posted on the Glider University web site.

Now that I've read this, I'd like to get them back on the Suncoast diet, but am concerned about how to transition them. Any advice you can provide is appreciated.

Thank you

I haven't heard about any problems with BML...my little guy has been eating it for four years and hasn't had any problems.

Glider Central just posts articles to cause problems.  I have fed my gliders the BML for 6 years and never had a problem.  I think my gliders are beautiful and healthy.

I agree with Sheila.. A lot of people have left GC because of that.  I have never fed BML, but have heard nothing but good things about it.

... Sheila's gliders are VERY beautiful and healthy..

What you do is you offer the SunCoast Diet and still have the BML diet available.  Gradually, take away the BML Diet food.

I use BML and my gliders love it. There's nothing wrong with it, it's a great diet!

GU Bashes BML for reasons that still to this day perplexes me, but I will tell you that their information is contradictory, they say bad things about the BML diet, but then they have a site listed as a reference that recommends it..... Very confusing.

Please do your research at other avenues before coming to "their" unresourced conclusion.
Sending you a PM.

I feed Chloe BML. Everytime i go to the vet he tells me how great she looks. He says he prefers BML because it is healthy and easy. I have never had any issues with it.

BML is NOT A DIET. IT is a SUPPLIMENT that is part of a diet. Yes, if you only feed BML you will probably kill your glider, but if you use it as a small part of a larger diet, he will probably be okay. I think the Zoological Diet that Suncoast sells is a better choice however.
