I am still unsure if I am going to get a Sugarglider or a ferret. But I am doing reseach on both. One thing about the sugerglider is conflicting information on the housing. Such as bird cage with bigger bars, or mesh housing. Also size. I will just be having 1. And though the house isn't big enough for a big cage, I don't want the "smallest possible" either.Anyone help?

I would not get a sugar glider unless you are going to get two. Sugar gliders are social animals, and they get lonely if they are kept alone. Also, the cage shouldn't be made of bare metal, it causes urinary tract infections in gliders. Get pvc coated wire. The spacing should be no more than 1" x 1/2". Hope this helps:)

you can have only one.. but, that means that you need to have a lot of extra time that you can spend with the single glider... which is why people suggest that you get more than one... as for cages.. for sugar gliders ... the holes/spaces between bars should be no bigger than 1/2 inch (or at least.. for breeders... I was told it should only be 1/2 so that joeys can't fall slip through).. and the cage should be as big as you can get... bigger is better... well.. especially taller... they like to be high up like they would be in a tree.. umm.. well. which ever animal you choose.. I'm sure you will be happy and have lots of fun...

I agree 100%. I see having just one glider as like having a lifemate. You would be this creatures ONLY friend and ONLY source of positive contact. If anytime during the next 10-15 years you decide/must get rid of the glider then there is a chance that glider would be scarred for the rest of its life.
If she had a glider partner/s then it would have a real family who speaks her language and knows her customs. I LOVE my suggies but would HATE having to spend one+ hours with them every night of the week for the next 10 years. Having multiple gliders lets me take a break a couple nights of the week without anyone becoming depressed.
