I am still slowly outting together what i need to buy and doind research about gliders but nobaody has really said what kind of perches to use. I'm guessing fruit tree branches, but i live eay up in canada, only trees around here are birch and pine in my area. I hear that Ash trees are non toxic, is this true? I have some in my front yard and would these be safe if i just ripped off several branches and took of leaves and berries?

Pet shops usually sell the Bolt-On Manzanitta Branch for under $20. My colony has had no problems and they chew on the branches. I thought that apple tree branches could be used but I'm not 100% on that. Try running a search on these forums for toxic plants. I'm sure there is a list that will tell yo which plants/branches to avoid.  Also, you could use some ropes or probably even PVC piping as long as they can't chew on the ends. Make sure you research all items that go into the cage though. I know PVC has toxins in it but I doubt they would get into the glider unless it was chewing on the plastic/PVC.

Here is the Mananitta branch. Scroll down the page a bit and its on the right. http://www.exoticnutrition.com/Cage-Accessories.htm ($10)FlyinFurBall38506.6658680556
