So my girlfriend and I recently moved into a new place, and the only place she is letting me put my gliders, is out of plain view, in a small loft in the entrance to our bathroom. I have no problem with building a cage.
I feel like it is too small, but she doesn't want them over a free standing closet in the living room. The loft space measure approximatly 22" high by 38" long and 16" deep. The other space is about 3 ft from the top of the closet to the ceiling and about 24x22" base. The cage they are currently in is actually two cages on top of each other, less than 3ft high and about 20x20 base.
The loft space is about the same area of their current space, but without the height. Now my gliders don't actually glide much and one of them usually eats on the floor of the cage. I have a lot of stuff in their cage, and they like to climb on all of it. when I do take them out, they pretty much just sit on my shoulder or head or back, etc.
The plan for the loft space was putting 1/4" cage wire on the front of it, with two doors. Some how block the walls and ceilings so they can't chew it, which will effectively make the space even smaller, as well as adding in a small tray on the bottom for easier bedding changes. Then, so they aren't bothered by the light, putting curtains up in front of the cage so it blocks out the light.
I think they would be ok in there, but I feel bad, and was really hoping they could either stay in the cage they are in, or make a bigger one in the other space over the closet.
Do you guys think I should settle for the loft, or argue for the over the closet space?
