I have had been very successfully with breeding and have gotten to the point that I need to start another cage to house two gliders. My first cage has a a wire floor and a slide tray that I put newspaper in that I change everyday. Do to low funds I have a cage without a wire floor and would like to know If there is anything I can put in the bottom of the cage like newspaper or shavings to aid my cleanup efforts. I don't mind If they shread the paper up as long as they wouldn't get sick from digesting the paper or shavings. I'm open for suggestions.

Creating a mesh barrier to keep your gliders away from the waste, food, etc that falls to the bottom of the cage really is necessary, IMHO.  You can create something like this very inexpensively.  Just go to the hardware store and get an appropriately sized piece of plastic mesh cut and secure it about 3" from the bottom of your cage using plastic cable ties.
I don't use newspaper nor shavings in the bottoms of my cages, but rather pieces of thick fleece.  I wash the fleece to pre-shrink, then cut several pieces that fit the drop tray.  Then, I just take out the fleece every other day, replace with a clean piece, and throw the soiled piece in the laundry.  :)

We have found by putting Hardwood Pellets used in Pellet Stoves gives a nice woody smell and it absorbs the odors and droppings.  We can go 3-4 weeks before changing the dropping pan.  You can purchase the pellets at Home Depot and Lowes.
