Our sugar glider 1 of the 6 we have. has had a bit of a hard stomach for many months..she acted and played normally.. but recently it has gotten very big and hard.. we are very concerned.. can anyone shed some light on what it might be.. the country we now reside does not have very good Vet care for these animals.

Thanx

Yes, that is cause for concern, could be a number of things but she def needs to see a vet, any vet can xray a glider to see if its fluid, an enlarged organ, bowel , or a tumor or something, just get a simple xray, fecal float and smear, any vet can do it.      Sugar glider knowledgeable vets like Dr. Tristen in Corpus Christi, Texas will consult with a vet.

I would also like to add that a glider will play and act normally until he/she is near death, it is a built in instinct. So please do not wait!

Thank you Cora.

I think I was too late in asking.. we woke this morning and clicky ( name after the sound she always made) had passed away. she was young, just about 1 year old.. one of 4 offspring that the 2 rescued gliders had.. we had just arrived home from 4 days days Off traveling in malaysia to find clicky with an extremely enlarges stomach.. as mentioned it was always a but hard and a bit larger than the rest,,, but this time it was a very noticeable different. it was only last night in our concern that I found this website that may have helped months ago.

Thanx again for the help
