Sugar Glider Central

Hi everyone! I'm a brand new mommy to 4 gliders - 2 boys and 2 girls, roughly 2 years old. So far I haven't had much luck telling them apart, and I'm worried that I keep ending up with the same glider in the bonding pouch and the others aren't getting any attention. Is there anything I can do to differentiate them? They're so small I'm sure there isn't such a thing as like, a glider collar or anything. I used to use tiny hair bands on my chicken's legs when we had our farm. I was thinking something like that, but I can't come up with anything. I'm already dealing with lots of battle wounds - these things really like to bite! I keep reminding myself that patience is important, especially with older gliders. But since I'm a new mommy, I don't know much.

well mine have different personalities, thats how I know whos who, you will learn to tell them apart in time. The biting can be deterred with feather teasers, finger puppets, treats, Psst Psst noise really loud works somtimes. tell me about your babies, got pics?

I too can tell most of mine apart. It comes down to personalities, size and then maybe colorings. If I tossed all of my cages together into one big pile, I might have a hard time with some of them, prolly the small skinny skiddish girls. In a typical colony, you tend to have some that are more friendly than the others. The friendly ones have lots of personality that is easy to see. The ones that dont like to be handled make it more difficult to know them and separating out multiple cages would be difficult there.

So a different answer might be time and interest. As you handle or interact with them, you will get to know them.

Yeah, I rarely see them all at the same time, and if I do they run around so fast I can't really keep track. So although I know the previous owners said the 2 girls are smaller, I can't ever get them all in one place to see which ones are smaller. They all look the same individually, and their personalities are pretty much all scared at this point. I just want to make sure they're all getting time with me, and that's really hard to do when there's definitely one that's slightly less scared and therefore easier to catch - I think I end up with that one most of the time and I really want to do work with the others, too.
