Have found a successful diet for my gliders. I have 4 adults that have had 4 babies. All healthy . In addition to the commercial pellets which they eat as a back up.I have fed them daily a mixture of powdered soy baby formula in water mixed with banana yogurt baby food. I add a small amount of gliderade in the mixture. They devour it. It has been their primary diet.It seems to be loaded with vitamins + calcium. In addition they get broccoli heads which they seem to prefer over many fruits. They do like watermelon. They get meal worms or crickets every day or every other day. Once a week they get pecans which they prefer over peanuts or almonds. Maybe this will help.
Dear KIT KAT,
I would . They are insectivores. They love them. Either the worms or crickets.
My wife picks up the worms with a hemostat or tweezers and the gliders get them . That way you don't have to handle them. Actually we buy the super worms and each glider (adult)) will eat 2 or 3 a night. (If left to there own devises they would eat as many as you could give them.) The young gliders, we put the small meal worms in a cup and let them eat them from that. or use the tweezers.
In our area you can get super worms at some of the fishing bait shops. They are cheaper there than most pet stores.
Found that the gliders like avocado. these gliders have expensive taste.
drik
Yes me too. I have found out my gliders have very expensive taste. Usually on a nightly basis I try to feed my babies and pellet mixture I made at the pet store, leadbeaters diet, a couple of different fruits, as well as a source of protein. Such as chicken, ground beef, meal worms. Or I will give them baby food. I find they like and enjoy the real food better then anything else and yes they do love avocado. I love to get feedback and will try my best to help all I can with their gliders.
Question on baby sugar gliders. I have a baby male taken from its mother about 2 weeks ago, and a three month old female. They have both been hand fed with yogurt, also baby food, applesauce, and water. What other foods should I and can I feed them at such a young age? Is it ok to start feeding soft food? Please help!
just dont feed too much of this.
banana is high on phosporus ( sp*)
and that battles with calcium.
gilders need a good amount of calcium to prevent hind-leg problems.
does anyone use "glider grub?" i think it is made by someone in texas and is distributed at local pet stores. if so, any opinions on its quality? Also ive been hearing lots of negative things about bml, and am looking for as many professional opinions as possible. thanks!
