I had hamsters once (pretty sure they were teddy-bear) and they ate eachother. they pet store warned me to give them meat and stuff, and even tho i did they, they ate eachother, it was pretty devastating!!!

I've got 5 pet mice (I'm a breeder of broken-marked, but for quality pets, not for feeders), 2 Dwarf Hamsters, and 2 Teddy Bear Hamsters. I use SoftSorbee.. or something like that? It comes in pink, blue, and purple, and they look like little balls. They are fine on the environment, and they keep the smell down.
Also, male mice smell 10 times worse than a whole tank full of females, so that could also contribute to the problem, as well as the type of cage. Though Kritter Keepers keep the smell down when you're near the cage, as soon as you open the top, be prepared for your eyes to water, and you really don't want a mouse to breathe that in.
If you want, you can e-mail me with any questions about mice that you may have. ^_^ I know more about mice than I do about sugar gliders, so maybe we can swap tips when I get mine.

EDIT- Ronihope- Teddy Bear Hamsters shouldn't be fed meat, that's just... strange. They killed each other because Teddy Bear hamsters are solitary in nature and only come together to breed, then leave right away. As for the cannibalism, it's their way of making sure predators don't pick up the scent of a dead rodent, and then find their way from the dead rodent to them.
EDIT AGAIN- Wow, didn't realize how old this thread was until after the fact... Oh well, maybe someone will find this information useful.

Thank you everyone for you help. We cleaned the cage once every three days and the ball(its a running ball thats conected to the cage by a series of tunnels) every other night because it stunk sooo bad. we didnt use pine or cedar or any other kind of wood bedding.Nothing helped so we did get rid of him eventually.
Thank you again for your help and sorry i took so long to reply but i was having computer troubles for a long time.
p.s. we already have rats 2 out of 4 of them are mine (dot and daisy)and i love them to death and i also have to agree they are very very good pets
