how long have you had them? the smell could be from a poor diet from before, and maybe even some stress of moving. i would put just a little fleece for them to cuddle with for now, until their nails get trimmed, then put more in. They really are great animals, and you should try and keep them around. When you wash their toys and items, don't wash them all at once, or they will just produce more "smell" to try to smell them up again, so wash in cycles.

i had a problem with the oder myself and what i did was wash there pouches first off soak them in fabric softner and then throw them in the wash on one day just wash the fabric stuff then in a few days then wash down the cage inside and out with viniger if you wash every thing at once they will rescent it all and you will endup with the smell again and i as so got one of those glad plug in fans and its helped no more smell i hope this works for you like it did me
A lot of fleece will soak up odor. Also when cleaning the cage, try to do it in steps, not all at once or they will work over time to mark it again. Also if they have to much vitamins in their diet that makes them smell. I do agree. What kind of diet are you having them on?
When I got my first two gliders their smell was terrible. Once I had them home, I cleaned their cage in stages, washed their linens, washed all of their toys in the dishwasher, but most importantly I got them on a proper diet. They were not getting fed very well when I got them. About a week after they were on fresh fruit/veggies/BML/vitamins & calcium, pellets, and boiled chicken their smell is gone. I wipe down their cages once a day with all natural baby wipes and all is well. Good Luck.
Im getting my male...Ceasar neutered in a few days. Yes...it does help knock their smell down. I've been told NOT to use the plug in's for too long in the room you have your SG's in. Maybe a room next to it will work better. They say thier sensitive to things like that. Just fyi....hope all is well.
Males have a smell/scent to attract females. They scent-mark their home to let the other gliders know it is THEIRS. If you have the males neutered, it cuts back on the smell considerably. Keep wood and other items that can't be washed out of the cage. Fleece toys and pouches are the greatest, you can just throw them in the washer. If you feed your gliders a lot of meat, mealies, chicken, beef, you will notice a smell too. Get them on a good diet, BML, HPW, Pricilla's, stick with the lists of what to and what not to feed your glider.
