Well here goes I have a male and a female sugar glider have had them about 8 months and I found out very soon after I got them that my female was already having a baby. Well all went well and we got a cute little female and of course she grew up well she wasnt that big just yet but she was gettin there. I had decided that I was to attached to her so I was keeping her she was very friendly with everyone in the house. Ok well the night before last I took them out of there cage and put them in there secondary cage so I could clean there bigger one and I cleaned it as normal like I do every week and them put them back into it. I noticed that my baby (fly) was kind of not as active but I figured she was tired. So i went about my night and when I got up yesterday morningshe was not sleeping with mom and dad and when she tried to get into there house with them my male would pull her out by the tail. Well i figured that they were mad at her so i let it be and figured she would go get into the other house. i walked by there cage about 3 hours latter and say she was laying on the floor of the cage so went to check her and she had died. I looked her over and found no blood or marks on her and I know they couldnt have fought because I was in the next room over and would have heard them. Could she have been sick and that be the reason that he was not letting her in the house? Anyone ever have this happen. I am so scared that my other two will die. I am already heart broken about her and do not want to loose the others. Any info or advise would be great thanx. Chandra
She might have been pushed out rather roughly and broken her nech or rib cage or gotten brain damage. Something like that happened to my hamster when i was 10. She climbed up the side of the cage with her back against her wheel like she usually did for amusement but one day she did that and she fell off backwards and hit her head. There was no blood, so it sounds similar.
Is your female having any problems? I also have a male and a female. I had two sets of babies, but on the second set, my twin babies died. They were not far from living outside the pouch. The mother carried one of the twins to the back of the cage for him to die. My babies died because the mom had a calcium deficiency, so if your mom is not taking vitamins, get her on them immediately. The babies did not have enough calcium in their milk to survive, and if they wouldn't have died, the mom might have. Your situation might be different, but nursing mothers need a lot of vitamins. You might also want to take the mom to the vet and make sure she is OK. Good luck, let me know how it turms out.
i'm kinda in the same boat i had a male glider(anthony) and a female glider(penny) and my male got a absess on his cheek and so we took him to the vet they fixed it and we brought him home he ran around and played but when i put him back in the cage with the female she attacked him so i took him back out and put him in the other glider pen i had and when i got up this morning he was dead! what can i do to keep my female from getting depressed?
