I was recently out at B.J's Wholesale, and saw this great buy, I thought why not try it out with the Gliders? I mean, if it doesn't work it doesn't work but it seemed like an amazingly cool idea, especially for $50 bucks!
I purchased a 10ft x 12ft screen room, which I set up in my backyard. I mowed the grass in the area, as the screen room had no bottom and got it all set up. It was huge and beautiful, there are many trees so no directly sunlight could harm their little Suggie eyes. Since the bottom of the Screen Room was open I constructed a really simple wood border around it to keep them inside and prevent escapees through the bottom. I released some crickets in there, and they went wild. The crickets were store-bought so no worries! The total project including my wood frame cost only around $65 bucks or so, and they love it! I still keep them supervised when they are in it just to make sure they don't get into trouble, but it was a huge tent and a great buy.
I think they have a website, so if anybody is interested search B.J's Wholesale using Google and their website should appear. I have never seen such a cool thing in my life, they love climbing, jumping, and there's even plenty of room to hop about, and glide. Crickets make foraging so much more fun.
You can also put a dozen or so crickets in a small hamster ball and place it in a tent, so they are not directly with the Sugar Gliders, they can reach their little paws into the slits on the hamster ball and grab at the crickets. A very affordable yet fun foraging toy! I was just thinking while eating this morning "How can I get their natural behavior out?" And then I thought "Hey! Hamster Ball!" It works magnificently!!!
