4 small pieces of cooked chicken. with cut grapes, cut strawberries, and cut vegetables. i sprinkle nectar, calcium, and vitamin mineral powder supplements on all their food. this is all frozen so i put it in around 8:30 so it has thawed out by the time they wake up. the lady has been feeding these gliders that for 5 years so she told me to keep feeding it. why? do i need to change their diet?
Sugar Gliders are exotic animals and should be on a proven diet. I would highly recommend 'The Priscilla Price Diet'. This can be found by logging on to www.thepetglider.com and clicking on "Nutrition System". I have found it to be the only proven diet that focuses on all aspects of Sugar Glider nutrition, many focus on solely protein. I highly recommend feeding this diet, frozen, in ice cube trays (1 cube per night) in addition to a tablespoon of lowfat yogurt, a tablespoon of fruits, a tablespoon of vegetables and plenty of insects such as Mealworms, Waxworms, Superworms or Crickets. They prefer insects that are large and alive. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
oh well the lady that sold them to me feed the same gliders that diet for 5 years and they are really healthy. only one almost died because she forgot to sprinkle the calcium but other then that they have been fine for 5 years
I'm just telling you from personal experience. Receiving chicken every single night is bound to make them gain weight which isn't healthy AT ALL. Then again, different things work for different people.
You don't have to use meats as a source of protein. You can also try scrambling or hardboiling an egg. I sometimes even give them a few shelled peanuts for added protein. Insects greatly contribute to protein levels, so make sure they get plenty of mealworms.
oh well im always being on and off. with homework and all its kinda hard to take the time spend time on the computer. and thanks for the information ill try that this weekend. and i have a farm about a 5 minute bike ride if i need anything.
