Dear Sugar Glider Central Community,
Alas, you are wandering through
the showgrounds or fairgrounds near your hometown and come across this
booth selling "Sugar Bears". They appear to be very professional,
exchanging "tips" and "good advice" with interested citizens right and
left. They provide you with a link to their website, you visit it. It's
very nicely made up, and you read that the homepage claims "Nation's
Leading Resource In Sugar Bear Care!" Was this you? Help us to stop Perfect Pocket Pets (PPP), before millions of "Sugar Bears" suffer from their abusive, insistent ways.
These cute, nocturnal animals are not "Sugar Bears", but, "Sugar Gliders".
Perfect Pocket Pets has gone so far as to change the name of an entire
species. You may be wondering to yourself, why must they do such a
thing? I'll tell you why. They are trying to prevent you from finding
out actual correct, proven information on these creatures when you
arrive home and attempt to "do your research." Perfect Pocket Pets
wants you to care for your new "Sugar Bear" according to THEIR
information. Perfect Pocket Pets always makes a point of stating that
forums are not intent on helping new owners, when in reality, some of
those registered on forums are the most experienced, kind-hearted Sugar
Glider owners you will ever meet.
Perfect Pocket Pets
promises continued support after you bring home your new Glider,
however, upon e-mailing them you realize that they aren't going to
reply. If they do, all they can provide you with is the false,
inaccurate information that they are known for. Perfect Pocket Pets has
a horrible, distinctive reputation for selling Sugar Gliders that are
way too young to be away from their mother, which results in various
medical conditions. They don't care about helping you, all they care
about is the MONEY they are making off of your purchase. They are mill
breeders. The number of Sugar Gliders that pass away just days after
purchase from PPP is HORRIFIC, APPALLING, and in other words,
DISGUSTING to many, hopefully ALL of us.
If you have been a
victim of Perfect Pocket Pets, do not be ashamed. For it is not your
fault, many have been tricked by the appearance of them being
"professional breeders." I strongly suggest that you post a reply here
and share your story, it will only help to assist us in ending Perfect
Pocket Pets career. If we continue to inform the community and protest
against them, they will get no business and they will stop doing what
they are doing.
Just What Lies Have Perfect Pocket Pets (PPP) Told?
The
list can and will go on and on, however, here are some of the more
"well-known" lies fed to us right through the mouths of Perfect Pocket
Pets' "employees." They continue to state that Gliders should be
allowed to bond with other pets in your household, such as dogs and
cats. As well as claiming that their nutritional needs will be met
while being fed a completely pelleted diet. They have also told many
new Sugar Glider owners that they should keep their new pet in a
20gallon aquarium so that it can see you at all times and feel "closer"
to you. These are lies, all of them.
If you are thinking about purchasing a Sugar Glider, DO NOT
choose Perfect Pocket Pets to be your "breeder" or "mentor", please,
post the city and state you are located in. There are tons of reputable
breeders in your area, it's just a matter of selecting one. I, among
many others would be EAGER to help you out! Perfect Pocket Pets is not
a reputable breeder, they aren't even breeders, they are a Sugar Glider
mill. They keep their Sugar Gliders in small cages, where they
are completely allowed to breed (and inbreed!) causing multiple
problems in newborns. They have even sunk so low as to hire someone who
has the job position of picking the dead Gliders out of cages, it's
terrible. Would you like that job? All of this can be avoided if you
choose to help us. Please post your Perfect Pocket Pets experience here
so others can read (and learn!) from you.
I Lauren, pledge to
spread the word about Perfect Pocket Pets activities and do my best to
inform the Sugar Glider Community as a whole on accurate, information
regarding Sugar Glider Care.
Thank You!
Lauren Elizabeth
Sugar Shock!
Remember,
do your research, don't give in and make purchasing your first Sugar
Glider an "impulse buy." You don't want to deal with the tragic passing
of your pet, or have to watch it suffering all because of Perfect
Pocket Pets.
