I just received my first Sugar Glider two days ago. Her name is Shela and she's 11 weeks old. I have had her in a bonding pouch which ive worn everyday. I lay pieces of my clothing over the cage and place some cloth inside with my scent on it. I was wondering if there is anything else i can do to speed up the bonding processs. thanks for any tips or tricks.
Try putting some honey on your finger and letting her lick it off. This worked really well for me.
Also handling is a big deal with any animal. Don't be afraid if she nips you, pick her up and hold her tightly in your hands - cover one hand with the other so she feels real snug and secure. When I first got my suggie I read on a site on bonding help that they liked being held snugly (by snugly I mean comfortably tight... not suggie squishing of course XD) and a loose, unsure hold will make them panic and jump away. I was skeptical at first, but for mine this really worked amazingly well! He just loves sleeping in my hands and getting his belly/chin rubbed now.
