Recently, my sugar glider has been having trouble urinating. I can tell because he makes these noises that are not normal, like honking and hissing noises. I brought him to the vet to get a urinalysis and the vet said that there is no bacteria in his urine, but he does have small crystal formation leading him to believe that he has some sort of stones.
The next step in my process was to bring him back for x-rays.
The thing is, financially, I am not at a place where I can pay for x-rays. And, if the x-rays came back as him having stones, I do not have the money to get surgery for him. I have been increasing his water intake which is basically the only thing the doctor recommended to me other than the expensive surgery.
I know what you are going to say. Why would I get this animal if I don't have the money to care for it? The thing is, a family friend actually bought is for his son. His son ended up being terrified of him. The friend tried to find all these places to give him away, but couldnt find anything. I figured that I would take the sugar glider instead of him being neglected at this home.
Tonight is the worst. He barely came out of his nest and is not running on his wheel at all.
I am in desperate need for some recommendations. I have thought about giving him to a rescue, but I dont know if that would be worse for him. I would hate to give him away, but I hate seeing him in this type of pain even more. Please help
