I recently got a male sugar glider by himself. He adjusted quickly and was playful and sweet. The man that was breeding them called me and told me his mate was pregnant and starving herself from depression from not being around the male. So I went ahead and got her too. She crabbed a lot when he was showing her to me but she had just been woken up. She let him pick her up without biting or anything too bad.
I then put both of them together, and it was chaos. She ended up somehow taking a chunk of fur off the top of my male's head so it looks like he's balding! We seperated them for a while but they called each other and were so loud. We tried it again, and they didn't fight like before.
Now, neither of them will come out of their pouch. The male is acting scared and timid and shaking. He stays frozen in one spot for long periods of time and it's odd. She stays in her pouch crabbing or squeeling and bites if you even try to get near her.
They seem to really want to be around each other when they're apart, so I have no idea what to do. I don't want my male to be hurt anymore, though.
