Other than the larger openings, it is very much like the Wodent Wheel - It would be fine for mice, rats or hamsters but would have the exact same problems for gliders as the Wodent Wheel presents.
Collection of glider pee and pooh, making a likely source of cage odor.
The fixed axle that the wheel spins on is likely to get sticky from glider pee and pooh. This can result in fluffy glider tails getting stuck on the axle and then winding around it like a hair roller. This has produced broken tails and even de-gloving (striping the tail of skin and fur) and can result in severe injuries requiring amputation.
Gliders do not just run in their wheel - they stretch out and jump across the center space, which in this type of wheel is blocked by a fixed axle.
I would not recommend this as a glider safe wheel.
If this wheel is used for gliders, I would recommend cleaning of the whole wheel, especially the fixed axle, at least every 3 days to prevent the axle from becoming sticky.
